’You wake up realizing that the world hasn’t got better than yesterday. The cross you bear keeps taking new forms. You tread your path alone...alas!’ is what Päär Päärenson has said about the message of his production.
’The Valley of Misery’ gives an easy-going and witty look mediated by dance and sound into the world as seen by young men. Into a world centered around the conflict between system and personality.

All of the participants are young professionals sharing the same educational bacground - University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy. Päär Pärenson and Ajjar Ausma graduated as choreographers, Johannes Veski and Joonas Parve study acting.

Päär Pärenson (1979) has in the past five years participated in several reknowned pieces of contemporary dance both in Estonia and elsewhere in Europe. He is also known as the performer J.O.C. in the music group Def Räädu Massive and makes use of contemporary dance and sound art in his productions. ’The Valley of Misery’ is Pärenson’s debut as a choreographer.

Teatrilabor (Theatre Lab) is an independent theatre created four years ago by University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy students. It is a performance space open to experiments involving crazy or meditative ideas and people with a will to make them happen.
