I appear as different characters. I proclaimed myself to be Miss Universe in order to challenge the notions of what a beauty queen should be. My Miss Universe is loud and demanding. She doesn't want to please the world but rather change the world, so that it would better please her. After having been the world's most beautiful, I wanted to be the world's smartest and I became Profesora, a self-proclaimed professor. Then I transformed myself into Evert Taube, a national icon in Sweden known for his ballads. Why Evert Taube? Because I wanted to! I longed for the sea, for the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean and for all the other seas. Adventure was looming on the horizon, and women and continents were waiting to be conquered. Then I grew tired of being a man so I once again turned into a woman, this time a lone wolf named Red Cloud Carter. I will tell you all about these transformations and show videos on how it all happened.
To exist is for human beings to transform their existence; to be alive is to want life.
Catti Brandelius is a Swedish performance artist who you will get to know very well if you come to her lecture.
