NU PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL III: Recycle Pop

erkki luuk and atavists "trip of the tree"

a person crawls along the dark stage that resembles a cave. the stage is not totally dark - a few bulbs* of fir, which have been steeped in egg yolk, and covered with cigarette paper and sensors (based on principles that disregard edison)to ensure a pleasant and strange atmosphere, illuminate the stage here and there - only dressed in black. however, this is not an ordinary black box - there are geometric passages, cuboids, evolutionary bottlenecks and darwinist tunnels, which the performer (i.e. luuk) willingly passed through and over, singing and making sounds. this is accompanied by black music that includes branches popping, hoots, the noise of coal belts and boilers, that is "stylized rock". unexpectedly, or rather immediately, a song snippet or tune breaks out, which is brought forth sometimes from the bottom of a vat, sometimes pleasantly droning and crowing, but mostly spookily, modulated as foreseen by the program, premonition, or text (the majority of which remains incomprehensible). from time to time, the crawler erects his monumental carcass on the lectern, thereby evoking some remarks from the floor or the birth of some great idea, which mostly remain somewhere between far-off narratives wrapped in pig-headed fog, jack o' lanterns or wood fires that direct us to ideological quagmires, oedipal self-annulment and mesmerizing séances. the rhythm of speech and song alternate smoothly - one cannot understand exactly where one begins and the other ends, or maybe there is no difference - maybe it is one endless stream. the performer (i.e. luuk) has been handed down to us from the primeval era. this is indicated by his clothing, which comprises cones and is pitch black and/or borrowed from nijinski, his voice, modest articulation skills (except for some brilliant speechmaking moments) as well as by his unique physical presence - basically consisting of lying down, crawling and widespread movements on all fours. when necessary, other artists (e.g. chaneld:or or chungin) are involved and audio equipment (mixer, wires, speakers, microphone) are used; recorded texts or vocal parts are also not precluded, along with hikes into the forest or the beyond, sea voyages, ballets, the reproduction of images and species (including in power point or on video)

• the lighting engineer should imagine that he is swimming in brown plastic film or a pacific ocean fish fillet
